Symposium: Archeological Society of Maryland Spring Symposium

A series of presentations highlighting archaeology in Maryland and the surrounding region.

Tour and Exhibit: Walk for the Woods: The Archaeology of Bacon Ridge with Zach Singer

There will be a hiking tour highlighting archaeological sites created over the past 6,000 years at Bacon Ridge. The Lost Towns Project will be unveiling a new traveling exhibit featuring prehistoric and historic artifacts from Anne Arundel County.

Ceremony & Reception: The Black Diamond Weekend - The Forgotten Tragedy on the Potomac

Head to St. Clement’s Island Museum for a weekend of activities commemorating a forgotten tragedy of the Civil War, the Black Diamond Disaster. On April 23, 1865, 87 lives were lost when the Black Diamond was hit by a steamer in the Potomac River near St. Clement’s Island during the hunt for John Wilkes Booth. Sponsor: St. Mary’s County Museum Division and The Friends of St. Clement’s Island & Piney Point Museums.
